The trail was renovated with the Fit Trail system in the spring of 1991 by the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department. This 20-station system offers a combination of physical and stretching exercises. Several of the fitness stations border Curry Creek. The creek area is a beautiful, scenic setting where individuals can enjoy a gentle stroll or a quiet pause on benches. The fitness stations include knee lift, body raise, sit-ups, side bends and many opportunities to check heartbeat, learn fitness facts and release tension.
While walking along the trails, visitors may see a variety of native habitats including oak-palm hammock and varieties of maple trees. You may also encounter a variety of wildlife species such as rattlesnakes, gopher tortoises, eagles, bobcat, coyotes and an assortment of birds.
Note: There are no restrooms or drinking water available; please plan accordingly.
Following Council approval on Feb. 23, 2021, dogs are now permitted within the walking trails of Pinebrook Park, on-leash only. Dogs are still prohibited from Wellfield Park and all athletic fields.
